FOX NUTS / PHOOL MAKHNA CURRY
They’re known as
FOX NUTS in English. They’re a tasteless snack which can eventually turn into
the most delicious one if cooked well.
FOX NUTS are lotus
flower’s seeds which are quite nutritious. They contain medicine properties as
Chinese too use them in medicines. FOX NUTS help control palpitation &
strengthens kidneys and spleen. These are high in fiber and high on anti
oxidants & act as an anti aging food.
FOX NUTS are cultivated for their edible seeds
which a kind of looks like popcorn. They’re commonly found in India but are too
available in Korea, Japan and Russia & are known as GORGON NUTS there.
Though FOX NUNTS/MAKHANA are disliked by many people but the recipe below would
surely make them love these FOX NUTS…
INGREDIENTS
1 medium bowl FOX NUTS / PHOOL MAKHANA
2 medium size tomatoes
1 tsp ginger paste
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 and half tbsp yogurt ( curd )
1 green chili chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric
Salt as per taste
1/2 tsp roasted cumin seeds
Chopped coriander leaves
Oil
One glass of water
METHOD
1) Wash PHOOL MAKHNA and keep it aside.
2) take a pressure cooker, pour some oil. Add ginger paste and stir it for a while.
3) add all masalas and pressure cook it till about 1 whistle. When cooker release its whistle, beat the tomatoes.
4) Now add PHOOL MAKHNA.
5) slightly mix it. Now add water and leave it for 10 min on low flame. After 10 min add yogurt ( curd ).
6) cover the lid and pressure cook it till 1 more whistle.
7) serve it with hot chapati or tandoori naan......
